Miles meets the Avengers part 2
Miles and Blackheart continue to fight, he manages to beat the villain because his powers coincidentally accomplish what none of the Avengers were able to do together. Having earned the respect of the team he leaves the scene of the battle... due to his damaged costume however the world learns that he is a person of color and we see the reaction of the Media. At home Miles has to face a new threat.... a scary old Lady.
I am not sure what to think of this book. Sure the art looks nice, the comedy is decent but there is no real story here. A big villain shows up, he and our hero fight and not much else. I kinda expect a bit more from a second issue. Where is the foreshadowing that makes me excited for the next issue? The big threat or mystery that hangs like a Damocles Sword above the head of the hero? There is some vague hint that Miles presence in New York may inspire old Spider-Man foes to do something terrible and we see a certain Cat Burglar, but since Miles did fine against against an enemy who wiped the floor with the current Avengers I don´t see how this is suddenly supposed to be a challenge for him. The whole Blackheart fight really should have been the Finale of this story arc. Then there is the commentary about the way people on the Internet talk about diversity. I am not sure what the author is trying to say but he sure succeded in making people who discuss these issues look silly. If there is anything that will make me come back to this book than it is this political aspect, no matter how badly it might be handled in the future.
I´d say avoid this book and try something else unless you just want to see Miles goofing around with his friends and having some fun adventures. Marvel offers so many high quality books at the moment that this looks rather bad in comparison. Better spend your money on something else.
