    Short summary describing this issue.

Where We Are last edited by gravenraven on 07/08/23 11:02AM View full history

There's never been a more American town than Sparta. In Sparta they believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness through treachery, blackmail and murder - just like the Maestro taught them as he learned it from the U.S. President. Sparta is such a great place that no one ever thinks of leaving. It's been three years since anyone's tried, and he was never heard from again...until today.

Today, Godfrey McLaine, the greatest quarterback in Sparta's history, has returned bigger, taller and redder than when he left. He's also armed with a secret that will expose the rotten core of the American Dream. Award-winning writer David Lapham (YOUNG LIARS, STRAY BULLETS) and artist Johnny Timmons (Wolverine) deliver a unique take on what it means to be an American!

I had absolutely no idea what this was about when I picked it up. I did since it was Wildstorm (wanted to branch out a little) and because it was an issue #1.  The Good:We have (what appears to be) a new "universe" of characters. It looks like it could be a non-superhero book which is good every now and then. You get a sense of an almost typical town but then you see that it's not the perfect ideal town. There's also a guy that's red and another that's blue. There definitely is more going on her...

Wildstorm’s creator-owned releases have produced a few gems as of late which include but are not limited to titles like Mysterius the Unfathomable, North 40 and Victorian Undead.   So here we have their most recent creator-owned offering with #1.   Writer David Lapham is best known for his work on Young Liars and Stray Bullets.   But honestly, this comic is the first time I’ve ever read any of his stuff.   I’m not the first guy to try a new comic.   I usually wait to see what others have to ...
