Up,up and away or maybe not

Skyman is the new series from Dark Horse that got me interested. In the preview the book seemed alright,Fialkov was the writer of the book which is one of the things that got me hooked about it.Fialkov has actually never impressed me with anything he's written but it is always kind of fun to read it.It may not be good but it is some entertainment and you lose that free time that bores you to death but this book got some charm that seemed like it would be something more from mere entertainment but it ended up being nothing from the both.

Fialkov tries to introduce to us a character that is trying to be a symbol to the people of hope and power and at the same time he is being hidden by the government from the people. He is a combination of two things that you see almost every day in the sphere of comic books and all media as a whole. He is trying to be the Superman of this universe and at the same time he cannot be exposed. It seems like Fialkov wasn't able to pick a more boring premise of the story and at some point in the book you think he will make an interesting turn that is going to hook you up for good and you will be thrilled for the next issue but nothing of that kind happens. It just seems like he was trying to do the most boring first issue ever that will even depress you.

Another thing that makes you want to kill yourself for buying this is the so called ''antagonist'' here.He doesn't seem to have any purpose in doing what he did in this issue and he just seems to be the ''antagonist'' only because we need one and not because he is the perfect choice or has the perfect reason to be such. And because he wasn't jerk enough before we even learned that he was the villain when we learned who he is and who he will be,to prove it he beat up a cripple. That is a good reason for us to hate him and probably that will be the biggest reason for Skyman to hate him as well.

And because this issue didn't have enough problems the artist was one nasty pick too.He didn't manage to do one single panel appropriately and it seemed like you were observing mudd drawings by me or some other guy that has no idea of anatomy or has no skills in illustrating comic books or even small paintings.Every single emotion, movement or pose was just goddamn awful and looked like total crap. And if you haven't been disappointed until now then now you are more.

The book doesn't give you even a small reason to pick the next issue up as well but you will probably do it because you will want to see how bad this is going to turn out.Every single thing in this issue annoyed me and didn't enjoy even a single panel except the first ones where the first Skyman just goes on a rampage. And that is it.Fialkov just disappoints and writes another random story that you will never remember or you will even want to remember.

The GoodCover- Smooth, slick and hot are the best words to describe Skyman #1 illustrated by Freddie Williams II and Dan Scott. It is worlds above the interior colors and art that much is for sure!Interior Art- Manuel Garcia’s art is distinctive and they are complimented by the deep dark pen lines of ‘Bit’. The contrast of the deep darkness of these inks really allows the colors by Marta Martinez to bring Manuel’s art to glorious life. Story- Talk about opening with a ba...
