Silver Surfer
Character » Silver Surfer appears in 2388 issues.
Norrin Radd of Zenn-La is the mighty herald of Galactus, the devourer of worlds. Gifted with the Power Cosmic and a trusty board that's faster than lightspeed, which he can summon at will whenever needed, Norrin Radd travels to distant reaches throughout the universe as the Silver Surfer.
I need help searching for a specific Silver Surfer scan
At no point in the whole story (2 issues) was the Surfer in any real danger, not even with Yarro Gort helping the evil dictator. The scan even says "He is too powerful! We cannot hold him!"
" @JediXMan: Tired of people hating on him, the Surfer dresses like a human and goes to a war torn South American country. (So those aren't Mexicans). He teams up with a girl who is with the rebels. After she is kidnapped and rescued by the Surfer, he returns her home and is jumped by her friends when they enter. They quickly get off of him after they realize it is a misunderstanding. "BRAVO!!!!............................Very good answer.
" I get the idea that this will be used out of context "Hope not..
Do u by any chance have the comic details regarding this scan?
To be honest i found the image by doing a Google search for the OP (being a newbie & all) but after reading your details regarding the situation it soons like a good read :-)..Have tried but to no evail..
" @Chaos Prime The scan is from Silver Surfer vol 1 #11, but the story begins in #10 "Thank u -)
@jloneblackheart: Old thread, and I usually don't like bumping these, but I have a question.
Do you know the issue or context behind this specific instance about Silver Surfer and these Latin Americans?
I see people trying to use this as a valid argument against Surfer, which is unfortunate.

I just looked through all of my old Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer comics, but could not find that specific scan. I am not fortunate enough to have the original Silver Surfer comics, but I have them in reprints from the early 80s, but I know they are missing pages and panels from the originals. It really looks to be from the first volume of the Silver Surfer. The only time he was in South America was in issues #10 & 11.
The whole volume is just Stan Lee's commentary on how awful the world is. The Surfer is perpetually trying to fit in, but always is shunned and feared and is witness to the atrocities and bigotry of humanity. He spends the whole series looking for peace among the humans. The Surfer is regularly "beaten" by street thugs, South Americans, mutated aliens and a plethora of other superheroes who shouldn't even pose any danger to him, even at his power levels from the time. If this scan is from issue 10, which I believe it is, it was a country at war and he easily escaped and dispatched the militants, leaving them running in fear for their lives. He blew up a bunch of military equipment also and commented that even the revolutionaries were savages in their own right.
Anyway, hope that helps a little. Anyone using 45 year old scans to make a character look bad either doesn't understand how comics evolve over time, is a complete troll or is simply awful at debating. Odds are, they don't know the context of the scan either (or any they find on the internet and post for that matter). Sadly, this is most people on the battle forums.
@jloneblackheart: I see. I appreciate your help, thank you.
@jloneblackheart: Hey there Jlone. I just wanted to drop by and say that after much searching and asking that I believe I have found the origin of the said incident. It seems to be from Silver Surfer: The Ultimate Cosmic Experience, which I have been told is non-canon.
@mysticmedivh: yes that's an alternate reality.
@mysticmedivh: I finally found a copy of that for a decent price. Soon we will know the truth!
@jloneblackheart: Nice! Though it's always possible to...
@mysticmedivh: the site does not condone piracy, and neither do I. I'm pretty sure you know this.
Besides what's the fun in that? I have a pretty extensive Silver Surfer collection and this is one of the few I don't have. So for me to finally get a good copy cheap, it's a good day.
@jloneblackheart: Hehe. Yeah, I was expecting something like that.
Though since you have a collection I think actually having it would be great.
Congrats on getting it though.
@mysticmedivh: Next page: The invincible South Americans are no match for the Silver Surfer! Looks like they aren't as badass as stairs or the NYPD.
