    S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 0

The first issue in this new series. Written by Jonathan Hickman and drawn by Dustin Weaver. This comic was a pretty good read. I mean we get this new secret origin of S.H.I.E.L.D. that we never knew, and we find out that this organization has been around for over 4 thousand years. Wow. I've never really read any previous S.H.I.E.L.D. comics in the past, but i'd have to say that this comic was well did. In this issue we meet a guy named Leonid in 1953 and he gets taken from his life and entered i...

    Shield 0

I don't really know about you, but i for one have been really looking forward to Hickman's Shield. I want to start of by saying that Weaver and Strain's work on the art is absolutely amazing, really blew me away. now to the story. I'm sure most people who are into comics know about the organization of Shield, which for those who don't know Shield is/was the top global peacekeeping organization in the Marvel U. Shield was initially formed and led by Nick Fury to combat the growing threat of terro...

    A Great First Issue 5

What you need to know: Brand new series, by rising writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Dustin Weaver, that details the history of S.H.I.E.L.D.The Good:- I love comic books that have some depth to them. It's part of what draws me to a book like Secret Warriors which is also written by Hickman. There's just so many layers and so much potential here.- The art by Weaver is great. It's clean, it's whimsical, and a great blend of historical detail and sci-fi fantasy. I was just really impressed by Weav...

Secret History of the Marvel Universe 0

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 Writer: Jonathan Hickman Art: Dustin Weaver Color Christina Strain I don’t read solicits.   So the entire concept of this book came out of left field for me.   I was expecting a book about the beginning of S.H.I.E.L.D.    Well it was but I had no idea how big it was going to be.   I wasn’t expecting that S.H.I.E.L.D. started back before the , much less during Kang the Conqueror’s reign in .   Hickman brought everything to this book that any comic fan could want.   The art is a...

SHIELD may cause Brain Melt due to concentrated AWESOME... 2

Jonathan Hickman is one of those writers who has garnered so much trust in me that when I see him writing a new book I immediately add it to my pull list, no questions asked.  The man made me love the Fantastic Four, something I thought would never happen, he reinvigorated Nick Fury and has turned Secret Warriors into an absolute must read rollercoaster, and now with SHIELD he's exploring the secret history of the Marvel Universe.  So, how did he do in the debut issue?  Well, the title of th...

    Let the Paranoid Rejoice 0

This inaugural issue blends everything I love about conspiracy theories with a great comics story. SHIELD has apparently been around forever and saved the world from cosmic threats numerous times. Sounds interesting? Throw in a timetravelling winged Leonardo Da Vinci and you bet it is. The best part is that it doesn't have the feel of what Marvel has tried to do in recent years whenever they propose that a character or concept has in fact been around for decades, but what never talked about (*co...
