In the galaxies beyond our own Milky Way lies the greater territories of the Sh'Air Empire, who have ruled their galaxy for eons. To assist in their defenses and to allow union between the varied races of their many acquired worlds the Sh'Air formed the Imperial Guard. Shapeshifter/Hobgoblin is a yellow antennae humanoid race known as a Chameliod and has the inherant ability to change his shape from humanoids to monstrous creatures. He has fought alongside his fellow Guardsmen for many years now and has been a very capable and usable agent, having a unique power for espionage.

    Creation

Shapeshifter /Hobgoblin was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum in 1977 and first appeared in X-Men # 107. The idea behind him, as with many of the Guardsmen, was actualized behind the concepts of the Legion of Superheroes and was a reflection of Chameleon Boy.
