Diggle is really killing me with this one.
PLOT:
First of all, let me clarify that I am A HUGE FAN of Andy Diggle. I love "The Losers" and really liked his early issues of Thunderbolts, his Daredevil run had a great start but started decaying as the plot began to stray more and more from the path Brubaker had intended. I began to lose interest and when all seemed lost along came Shadowland, great premise but awful execution. This issue deals with Elektra leading a charge against her old boyfriend, among the heroes are Wolverine, Shang-Chi, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and a VERY human Punisher. Andy Diggle CAN write a team, he has proven it on Thunderbolts and The Losers which is why it is such a disappointment to see Diggle write a bunch of dialogue with almost no distinction between one member of the cast from the other. The usual continuity issues are present on the book as both Moon Knight and Ghost Rider are absent with no explanation whatsoever among other weird details that I pray are explained on tie-ins. The plot looks almost too predictable and the ending cliffhanger seems far too lazy. I expected much more from an event book that is only one issue away from conclusion.
ART:
Tan's art has improved since last issue or at least seems more polished. Quite frankly it is a joy to see him draw ninjas and marvel heroes fighting each and that is probably the only reason to get this book. Colors were nice, they seem more vibrant than past issues which is nice as well. No complaints here.
SO:
Meh, not the penultimate issue I was expecting, dialogue and overall plotline could have been improved so much more.
Art has now turned into the main reason to read Shadowland, Billy Tan is a wonderful artist and deserves praise for having to put up with this increasingly boring and predictable story.
I wouldn't recommend getting this book, borrow it from a friend or just skip it. I assure you whatever the outcome of Shadowland is, most of it will be resolved and dealt with on the main Daredevil series without the
