    Shadowland #3

Shadowland » Shadowland #3 - Chapter 3 released by Marvel on November 2010.

    Short summary describing this issue.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

THE BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF NEW YORK CONTINUES! The Heroic Age has begun... but Daredevil didn't get the memo. As The Man Without Fear's reign over Hell's Kitchen continues, his allies and friends come together to try and, for one last time, put an end to his rule over The Kitchen. Will the Devil's reign continue, or will the heroes triumph?

Moon Knight, still under the guise of Jake Lockley, fights his way through the dungeon of Shadowland as Ghost Rider tears through and leaves dead Hand ninjas in his wake. Moon Knight asks him why he is in Shadowland. Ghost Rider doesn’t know who summoned him and he is intent on figuring out who did so.

Back at the melee from last issue, Daredevil lifts his ban on killing and calls for the deaths of all opposing him. Daredevil displays an unusually high level of martial arts skill by defeating Iron Fist and Shang-Chi. During the battle, a large explosion rocks Shadowland and Punisher enters and opens fire on the Hand. The heroes flee through the hole created by the blast and Spider-Man seals the hole to prevent pursuit by the Hand. As they leave, they notice the general populace is now out on the streets fighting and rioting, apparently affected by the same “dark power” affecting Daredevil.

Elsewhere, Lady Bullseye cautions Kingpin about using the zugaikotsu warrior (Ghost Rider) and tells him that Ghost Rider will come after him. Kingpin says that the scroll that summoned the warrior will also protect him from the warrior’s wrath and that if Ghost Rider wants to be free of the magic that summoned him – the black magic of the Hand – he will have to confront the source of the magic. Kingpin’s plan is to let Ghost Rider strike at the heart of the Hand and come in afterward and gain control.

Back in Shadowland, Daredevil erroneously assumes that the delegation was a diversion what went down in the dungeon. Black Tarantula begins to question Daredevil’s attack on the heroes and Daredevil simply replies that they need better fighters. Daredevil instructs Typhoid Mary to follow him and bring a shovel. Moon Knight observes this conversation while hidden in the rafters. Daredevil and Typhoid Mary head to a graveyard and dig up Bullseye. Suddenly, Elektra appears and says she heard Daredevil was looking for fighters.

The heroes regroup in Harlem. Iron Fist and Shang-Chi note that Daredevil had never been capable of such martial arts prowess previously. Punisher suggests they are going to have to kill Daredevil. Master Izo appears and says he has learned the truth. The secret cadre at the heart of the Hand – the Snakeroot – have taken control of Daredevil and are using him as a vessel for the Beast of the Hand. The issue ends with Daredevil carrying Bullseye’s corpse, flanked by Elektra and Typhoid Mary.

Shadowland so far has been a truly cinematic experience. Shadowland #3, though, is a fairly weak entry. The plot took a back seat for panels of BANG it's Ghost Rider, BANG it's Spider-man, and then quite literally, BANG it's the Punisher. While, I appreciate the fan service of seeing Marvel's finest street heroes fighting an old friend gone mad with power, I'd like it done a bit more tastefully. A few pages in, and I was tired of characters popping up with no introduction spouting self-conscious...

Matt Murdock ..The Master Of KungFu ? 0

I just don't know about this series. Either some heroes aren't being portrayed correctly here or DareDevil is gaining power from someone.  Perhaps both. Someone has literally taken control over DareDevil spirit and mind and enhanced his abilities.  I love action but Billy Tan's art work on the action scenes doesn't have  the flow where it should, especially when DD takes on Shang Chi and Iron Fist and defeats them both!?!?  Later Iron Fist consoles Shang -Chi when he claims "I am no longer the M...
