His first cartoon was published in the magazine "Dogan Kardes" when he was in primary school. During his student time on the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (now Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University) he made his first professional works. Sezgin Burak worked for many magazines as cartoonist. For the newspaper Cumhuriyet he illustrated the novels "Yilanlarin Öcü" by Fakir Baykurt and "Ince Memed" (Memed, My Hawk) and "Agri Dagi Efsanesi" by Yasar Kemal.
In 1964 he created the comic strip "Bizimkiler". In 1966 he created Tarkan, his most famous comic character.
In the 1960's he worked in Italy. In that time he penciled Kolosso and created the western character El Cougar.
He commited suicide in 1978.
