fallschirmjager's Sex Criminals #8 - Robert Rainbow review

Some flaws, but comedy makes up for it - mostly.

So Suzie and Jon have been fighting recently and we finally get to the point where they're on one of those "cliche" breaks. Ok.

We start off following Suzie who's taking a visit to the gynecologist only to find her regular doctor is not the one "attending" to her today, instead a young good looking Doctor "services" her. What follows is a hilarious scene of Suzie fantasizing about him and he's checking her out. Apparently she has a perfect cervix btw so it ends with a few dozen interns examining her too (rofl)

Anyway. She asks him for coffee and he says yes and when they meet up she runs into John, who apparently knows the new doctor.

It was at this point I felt the whole thing became very forced and way too convenient. Long story short we cut to Jon, he goes to therapy eventually gets over his problems and Suzie and Jon start to make up with Robert helping along the way. Everything's nilly willy again which I felt was really rushed considering they had spent a few issues building up the break up. It should have been resolved in just one issue.

The ending is fairly interesting though and a nice cliffhanger to leave an issue on, but it really wasn't needed until perhaps next issue as I said. The whole break up should have been fleshed out more.

But again, the issue was absolutely hilarious so I don't mind too much. I read the book for the comedy, not the amazing story telling (no surprise since Fraction has issues with this in past books as well).
