    Triumph and Treachery

Star Sapphire returns to Sinister Citadel after tailing Captain Comet on a mission to Lemuria (as seen in Super-Team Family #13 - Ragnarok Night). She informs the team that the Atom's fiancée Jean Loring has been driven mad and gained the ability to cause disaster with her mind. The Society decides they can use Jean's powers for their own use. The Creeper and Star Sapphire head for Lemuria to kidnap Jean. The Wizard, Gorilla Grodd, and Funky Flashman leave on their own mission to S.T.A.R. Labs to obtain the next magic artifact - a cloak of invisibility.

Captain Comet approaches S.T.A.R. Labs, hoping to beat the Secret Society of Super-Villains to the cloak. The Trickster, having had the same idea, watches from a distance. Grodd, Wizard, and Flashman arrive in Grodd's Quadromobile. The Society is able to beat Captain Comet and steal the invisibility cloak. Trickster decides this whole thing is too much trouble and returns to Central City.

Outside Lemuria, Star Sapphire and Creeper are attacked by a small army of Lemurians. They are able to beat the Lemurians, but Star Sapphire notices that Creeper is pulling his punches. Once inside the city, Creeper knocks out Atom before he realizes what is happening. Star Sapphire and Creeper kidnap Jean Loring.

That night in San Francisco, Captain Comet ambushes the Society after picking up a vision from Funky Flashman's mind of the hiding place for the sorcerer's treasures. Creeper notices Flashman grabbing the treasures and running while the others fight off the hero. He follows Funky in hopes of finding out who the Society's mysterious new benefactor is. As Jack Ryder, he's able to catch the Wizard opening the door to the locker where Flashman deposited the magical artifacts. At the police station after his arrest, Wizard insists it makes no sense for him to be the Society's benefactor. He claims if he had the kind of money the benefactor does he wouldn't have needed to join the Society in the first place. Having completed his goal, the Creeper returns to Gotham.

Back at Sinister Citadel, Grodd introduces his new recruits for the Society: Sinestro, Poison Ivy, Bizarro, and Angle Man
