    The Chinese conspiracy

Breaking and entering. A space ship hovering around the world. A net of operatives from all the globe. A threat from the past, long dead and forgotten. A secret council from the depths that just assumed a major role (trying to replace AIM, Hydra and others). A Kung Fu master that fights to make it up for his fathers´sin. A group of heroes that save the world and can´t get the credit for it. These are all the elements of this book and it´s  working fine. You see a Steve Rogers that is commander of all the network of spies, agents, heroes and army in the USA, so he´s got a lot of power. You expect that he´s going to have his plate full and deal with it, since he has the expertise for that. And this is what happens, we see Rogers in command of things (interacting with Beast and Shang-Chi) and still has some free time to relax with Sharon. It seems that Brubaker has this thing under control, and he´s adding great stuff in this new arc, continuing to explore the Shadow Council and their plans. Mike Deodato´s art is still amazing, but I didn´t like how he portraited Rogers´without uniform: he´s a bulk of muscle, almost deformed, and when he puts his uniform on, it appears that he shrinks a little. But other than that this issue has great art, beautiful colors, action scenes and good panels.

It wasn't for a while, due to my strong love of New Avengers cast of characters, but that book has really just disappointed me with it's crazy magic story. Secret Avengers meanwhile has been growing and showing some strong signs for the future, trademarks of Brubaker writing. I really think that with the involvement of Steve Rogers, this book might be the one to look out for the most as well, since what happens in...

      My favorite Avengers book 0

Secret Avengers has been one of the most interesting books to come out of Marvel's big Avengers brand relaunch. The creative team is a match made in heaven, as Mike Deodato's dynamic action sequences and shadowy figures are a perfect fit for Ed Brubaker's high-concept conspiracy storylines. The book also spotlights a lot of quality under-used Marvel characters (Nova, Moon Knight, Valkyrie, War Machine, etc.) and gives them a chance to shine in massive Avengers-sized stories. "Secret Histories", ...
