That's a Covert Op Team!!
After being so disapointed with this title (I had high hopes in Brubaker delivering great stories), I was completely amazed and stunned after reading the Warren Ellis' debut on this short 4 issues run, but totally worthy it, since Ellis managed to imprint what the true idea of covert op and surgically strike team are supposed to be: forget about saving the universe (like the mission on Mars) or dealing with a crazy immortal wanna be (Shang Chi's father), the true core of what this title was meant to be is exactly what Ellis' captured and wrote in this issue: a bunch of heroes trying to save Earth in a daily basics, from major threat potentials, but stuff dealt only in Earth ground, related to Earth, not the universe, leave that to the cosmic team. Reading this issue was a complete delight, not only because of how the characters were portraited by Ellis (especially Beast, he optimized him a lot), but because the fact he decided to use just a few of the characters, assembling different teams in each issue (this issue is consisted by Beast, Rogers, Black Widow and Moon Knight; next issue is Rogers, War Machine, Sharon and Vakyrie) - Ellis also used the Shadow Council as foes, what was a smart thing, since probably is the only good element originated in Brubaker's run - the art was a little off, but that's because I'm not a big fan of Mckelvie's childish style, imagine what this title could've been with an artist like John Cassaday, just imagine, but even that don't have enough strenght to dimminish the value of this single issue, a self contained story, very entertaining, accessible for every single comic book fan out there (you don't have to had read all the previous issues in order to fully apreciate this one), so this is a highly recommended issue as is the next one (with a better art, a cool self contained story too, but this one I liked more)!
