The SCOTT PILGRIM movie’s coming out tomorrow (at midnight, actually, for who just can’t wait.) If you want to read the entire series before you see the movie (and if you happen to own an iPad) you can actually purchase digital downloads of each of the six volumes for seven to twelve dollars a pop, now. Comixology just recently made the Oni series available. If those prices are still too big of an investment, the company’s also offering the first two chapters free as samplers. Another carrot hanging from this stick, so to speak, is the inclusion of the full-color comic Oni offered on FCBD, FREE SCOTT PILGRIM, as well as every OGN’s bonus content.
I’ve actually seen Comixology’s iPad demos at all the cons I’ve gone to this year and the Guided View interface they’re crowing about on Pitch Engine is, indeed, pretty appealing. Basically, every time you touch the screen, it slides the viewer to the new panel and readjusts & resizes according to its dimensions. If you’ve ever tried to read a comic online and had to go through the awkward dance of scrolling down and zooming-in, you’ll know how much more convenient this makes your reading experience.
Anyway, here are some more pics of the app in action...

Also, you’ll probably want to know that the SCOTT PILGRIM vidya game is already available for download on the Playstation Network. Our buddies at Giant Bomb got a hold of an official gameplay trailer for it…
Wow, that’s just an EXPLOSION of color. Honestly, I thought this was going to be one of those rinky dink app games that are only, shall we say, mildly diverting. But this… this looks like a beat ‘em up right up there with the likes of the NINJA TURTLES arcade game and CAPTAIN COMMANDO in my book. If those early 90s games are a little too old for some of you to remember (eek!) then maybe a 2D version of X-MEN LEGENDS invites a more timely comparison.
