Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil ex's in order to win her heart. The film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel series, Scott Pilgrim, written by Bryan Lee O'Malley.
The movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the world caught my attention when I saw a preview for it. After checking it out, I absolutely loved the movie. I loved everything about it, the characters, the script, the scenes, cinematography, the actors, everything. I mean like in my top 5 of all time, and I've seen a LOT of movies. It was after watching it a dozen times or so that I decided to check out the source for the movie, the comics. When I started reading the comics, it was immediately recognizable that the movie was a perfect scene by scene take from the comics, I think they adapted it perfectly.
What this blog is really about is how Scott Pilgrim was what led me to the discovery of ComicVine, another love of my life now.
I saw the movie a couple of weeks ago, It was alright. I didn't hate it, but I couldn't wrap my head around the notion that a skinny kid like Michael Cera could beat anybody up. Perhaps he'll diversify his role choices, he can't play "the awkward kid" forever.
That's what happens with typecasting, besides it was about superpowers, not real physical ability to fight otherwise Lucas Lee would have stomped him easily.
Someday he may get some other roles, but it will be hard considering that is sort of his forte
The role stealer was Kieran Culkin though, he was flawless throughout the whole movie.
it's pretty good. But don't let the praise for it fool you. It's not what the comments from people make it seem.
I enjoyed it, and thought it was a great movie. But the Praise for it baffles me, it's not like it's all that amazing or new. It's basically a Quentin Tarantino film for kids. (Not that that's a bad thing, Tarantino is a great director). All I'm saying is people act like this is some cinematic break through, when this type of film has been around for a good long time.
