Scarlet Witch is arguably Marvel's greatest achievement in the area of gender intrigue --- surpassing even the likes of Dark Phoenix, Spider-Woman, Elektra, and She-Hulk --- because she does what no other superheroine does in the Marvel universe: she creates instant fantasia magic.
It is a controversial but arguable point that Scarlet Witch (Marvel Comics) invites a completely unique brand of pedestrianism energy by inspiring democratic ideas about religion censorship and Wicca liberties.
Wiccans have never really broken into mainstream America, even though there were some avant-garde ideas concerning Occultism and feminism floating around during the counter-culture movement.
Today, Wicca in mainstream America is reserved for films such as "Ouija" [2014] and "The Witch" [2015].
Well, Scarlet Witch (Marvel Comics) brings an air of flash and confetti to the realm of witchcraft --- not because she's a definitive Wiccan/witch or even because her magical super-powers represented in her comics represents the fantastic --- but because her name (which is non-heretical and inoffensive to Wiccans/witches) is socially connected to creative art.
This is both a very controversial and a very sociological argument!
