Beauty is Beauty, putting the word "alternative" in front of it seems like they're just trying to find beauty in ugly girls.

Not a fan of the website, not a fan of having them at my con. Aspire to be higher - boob and tat pics shouldn't be anyones glass ceiling.

And to top it off what a terrible name, "Suicide Girls," yeeah.

" @Vortex13: I see your point.  However as the article stated, they were selling adult DVDs.  So I think there is more to it then just promoting their comic, even if it is slightly on the agenda. "

"Their comic" was being background characters in one Hack/Slash issue two years ago, so I'm pretty sure your theory is correct. "
Why thank you for that.  After I was told they had their own comic I have been hunting for it just to see.  Through my research I came across them only being minor characters as well.  Thanks for backing up my sanity mate.

Don't see they why they would ban a soft-core site, even though most of the booth babes are basically in the same category

Or (more accurately) they're a group of attention-starved wannabe starlets who take their clothes off for a living.  The name 'Suicide Girls' is just a brand name, but it doesn't change the fact that they're just strippers.  Having tattoos, I sometimes get chatted up by morons who tell me I should be a Suicide Girl.  What?  I should be a talentless hack who just happens to have tattoos?  Hell no!    It amuses the hell out of me that those trollops are 'banned'.         "
Kitty i have nothing but the utmost respect for you but, i just got to say that i feel you are being a little unfair to them, Like i said before, they give equal opportunity employment where as most modeling agencies don't. Amina Munster for example has only one leg, she became and amputee when she was just a child, and now she is a semi celebrity in the horror community do to the opportunities presented to her by the Suicide Girls. And the Suicide Girls are more artistic than strippers, and even still stripping is a legitimate way for someone to make easy money, not that i'm condoning the lifestyle. But I'm not going to judge another human being for their choices in life, every knows what is the best path for them. And the suicide girls have a lot more class than you are giving them credit for. :D

but I can also see the stance that you and some other people are taking, but they do more often than not dress as famous comic book characters/ cosplay if you will. and im my book. that says the deserve more of a spot at the con, than most of the non comic related garbage this year. Glee anyone?
I'm actually a big fan of the show, but i don't want them at my comic convention.

It's a niche site, Amina has the Tats/piercing combo that allows her to get featured, her prosthetic leg doesn't factor into that. Had she not had those.... it'd be a different story.

Man, who doesn't love naked alternative chicks. Though this is unfortunate to many across the nation, I've always found it amusing to see the dynamic between a bunch of comic fans with their sweat stained Captain America shirts and ridiculously smoking ladies with piercings and tats. I don't know, I don't regularly attend conventions, but I always found it fitting for those girls to be here. Not to mention I went to a bar where the Suicide Girls were hosting, and their "fans" came, who looked exactly like the ones you'd see at these conventions. Without comic readers, where would the girls be now?

" @Nobody:  that's only to say if they really did. i mean, maybe the guy's making it up about the minor. maybe the kid wasnt a minor and she really did check his ID but the guy didnt notice? and even if it did happen i dont think the entire organization should be banned because of what one person did. that would be like banning the Yankees (or your favorite team) from the World Series just because A-Rod said he hates Obama (didnt happen, just a hypthetical) "

"The guy" is on the board of directors and since they make money off of booth space, it ain't likely he'd make something up for funsies or jump to a conclusion. And your analogy doesn't work because in this case it's a representative of a company selling the company's product in a way that's a crime. It's not even close to being the same thing as expressing an opinion.

yes it is because what if, Tony Romo murdered someone, so the entire cowboy's team was banned from playing.

I will leave the whole art vs porn argument to others. I will say that if there have been a few instances of underage people buying a adult DVD at a previous con then let the police deal with those instances where they occur. Its just a little hypocritical for Comic-Con to ban them when they for years have used strippers, porn stars and adult models dressed up in various costumes to promote shows over the years.
