    Samurai Jack #2 REVIEW!!!!!

Jack continues on his quest to look for the Threads of Time! To get the next thread, Jack must face the twins Dis and Dat.

    THE GOOD

    No Caption Provided

I said it in my review for the last issue, but I really do think that writer Jim Zub and artist Andy Suriano are doing Samurai Jack's saga justice. While they are working with what they got (this assumedly being a 10 issue limited series), they never fail to capture Jack's world exactly how the animated TV show would capture it. While it does have strong differences from the TV show (more about that below), I do like how it still has that Samurai Jack kind of feel. The story setup of Jack fighting Dis and Dat is exactly what you'd see in the TV show, so congrats to the creative team on keeping that Samurai Jack feel.

    THE BAD

This issue moved way to fast. Ever since Jim Zub established the story element that Jack is going to be gathering strands of time to eventually reverse time, this second issue feels like it just went by too quickly. This series more than likely being limited to 10 issues, I feel like each issue will have a "meh" kind of feeling. If this was the TV show it could create a "wow" feeling every time with the pace and story of this second issue, however this isn't the TV show. This is a comic book. It relies on sight, reading, and a bit of imagination, unlike TV which doesn't rely much on imagination as it has everything (i.e. sound, moving images etc) already thought out for the viewer. So because of having to use a bit of imagination it takes away from the comic and makes it feel way too fast paced.

    THE VERDICT

Though it has pacing issues, Samurai Jack is an enjoyable series still. It has action, the story stays true to what the TV show had created and the artwork does the animation from the series justice. So if you are a fan of Samurai Jack pick up this series! Overall 3 out of 5.

      True Samurai Jack Story 0

This review originally went up on my blog here.Last month, IDW launched a Samurai Jack ongoing series, penned by Jim Zub and drawn by Andy Suriano. It was a fantastic launch with a story that was very true to the core concept and feel of the old animated series from Cartoon Network and the same could easily be said for the artwork as well. As a fan of the old animated series, I had tremendous fun with the first issue and had been waiting ever since for the second issue, which goes on sale today...
