Very Weird. But Promising. 0

I just stepped into a comic book shop for the first time in a long while to pick up the first issue of Saga. Judging just by the cover, which shows a horned man, and a winged woman who is nursing a baby, I knew it was probably going to be a bit stranger than what I would normally pick up. But Brian K. What the eff did I just read? I was just browsing through my comic shop's shelves, looking for some Avengers Vs X-Men titles tie-ins that aren't on my pull list when I saw Saga. The name rang a bell, like something I should be checking out. The clean, simple, and mostly white cover drew my attention. The characters seemed like something out of WoW, which isn't normally my cup of tea. My Saga Issue One Review 0

As Vaughan builds up the universe in this issue, Staples takes us along for the ride. The pencils jump off the page (almost as if they are in 3D) to bring these characters, creatures and settings to life. I realize that a lot of the backgrounds are sparse or absent, but the expressions on the characters' faces and the details in the creations easily overcome that subtle flaw.
