    The Story:
After the death of Gertrude, Chase has left the group to be alone. A former cop finds some type of an artifact that once belonged to members of the Pride and tries to sell it to an old man. The old man takes it in his hand and is transformed into a giant monster who begins crushing the city. Meanwhile Chase tracks down a girl who was involved in Alex Wilder's plan and brings her to the Gibborim to sacrifice her life in order to bring back Gertrude. Chase finds out she's not innocent and returns back to his friends. Using the Staff Of One, Chase binds Nico to a chair and explains his plan of sacrificing himself to bring Gertrude back. He leaves with Old Lace and all the other Runaways try and stop him. The Gibborim don't accept Chase's offer to give his own life. They fight the Runaways but without consuming an innocent life they fade away. While heading back to the Hostel, the Runaways run into Iron Man.

    My Thoughts:
Brian K. Vaughan delivers another great story for one of my favorite series. I like his character development for Chase in this volume. It was much needed, well timed and perfectly executed. When I first started reading the Runaways series I didn't care much for Chase but he did grow on me as he became a little funnier. But the death of his girlfriend has greatly effected him and it shows. He was pretty bad ass in this comic to put it bluntly. I like how references to the Civil War were added as the events in this comic do take place during the Civil War and it was nice to see Iron Man at the end. Brian sure has developed a great team of characters and I'm sad to see him leave this series. He was the creator of the Runaways and no one will ever be able to write them like he has. At least he got Joss Whedon to write the next story arc so I am looking forward to reading his take on the Runaways.

The art as always is so beautiful. I just love the colors I see every time I pick up and read a Runaways comic. Adrian Alphona has done an amazing job with the art every issue and it will be sad to see him leave this series as well. I really liked the panel with Chase holding the Staff Of One and Old Lace standing behind him.

If you haven't read the Runaways this is something you should check out. It's definitely worth your time. I'm not saying it will be your favorite comic ever, but it will make you laugh.

    Rating: 5/5
