This issue introduces us to the story of Rostam and his son Sohrab, arguably the most famous of all Shahnameh stories. Rostam, looking for his lost horse, enters the courts of the King of Samangan where he meets Princess Tahmineh. The story becomes an epic romance, a tale of separation, passion, valour, and betrayal, and ends with Rostam facing an opponent whose strength equals his – Sohrab, his own son!
This issue was released to coincide with the birthday of the original author of the Shahnameh, the Persian poet known as Ferdowsi, or Firdausi (Hakīm Abul-Qāsim Ferdowsī Tūsī)
