Star Trek Canon Special Note

Not everything listed in the origin is Canon. That is because only television shows and movies are considered canon. This being a comic website there are many things here that are not canon. So unless it is contradicted in film it should be listed as part of the team biography.

Romulas are an alien race in the Star Trek Universe.They are descended from another alien race called Vulcans. When their ancestors left the Vulcan homeland they rejected the pacifist and rational movements that were transforming Vulcan Society. They wanted to hold on to their traditional ways. Physically they are very similar to Vulcans, but they have weaker strength due to the lower gravity of Romulus.

Creation

Romulans were created for the television show Star Trek by Gene Roddenberry. They have always been depicted with pointed ears like Vulcans but even though they look a lot alike they have some definite differences. Romulans tend to have a more protruded forehead. They also have a greenlish, yellowish tinge to their skin color that as Vulcans tend to have skin colors like the people of earth.

The Romulans were depicted very different in one book from a five issue Star Trek series and they were shown to have green skin with hair of a darker green. This went with the many other changes for this series like a blonde blue eyed white Nyota Uhura and a black Hikaru Sulu for example.
