Origin
Having been captured by an unnamed enemy in Burma, perhaps the Japanese, Capt. Patrick
Kelly and his gunner “Wacky” escape in an airplane designed by an unnamed “engineer”
that is capable of doing 1000 miles an hours.
Thus armed they tool about Asia raising heck with bad guys, mostly Japan.
After the war The Avenger becomes a space ship, Wacky gets renamed Punchy and Rocket gets a girlfriend named Sue.
Creators
Starting as an 8 page backup story in The Bouncer the details of The Avenger, the plane
that Kelly and Wacky fly around in, are never given, in fact their first story
starts with them escaping and in possession of it. All we are ever told is that
it can go 1000 miles an hour and has no landing wheels!
