I've heard A LOT of bad things about this guy, Rob Liefeld. Sucky writing, sucky art, and sucky comments about some real go-getters in the comics industry. Are all of these things about him true, is anything by him worth picking up, or am I missing something?
Rob Liefeld
Person » Rob Liefeld is credited in 1001 issues.
Rob Liefeld is a successful, but controversial artist. A penciler and writer who rose to record-breaking success in the 1990's with titles such as The New Mutants, X-Force, and Youngblood.

He can't draw feet, for one. That and he has this weird fetish for gigantic pockets and overcompensating guns.
And spines that curve like nobody's business.
That, too. And a depth-perception issue.
Until recently, he couldn't draw a hand holding a sword, either. And, as another user pointed out (k4tz, I think), he's ridiculously inconsistent when it comes to weapon placement on a character's body.
@Renchamp: He did not invent that type of hero, there were several examples before hand like the Punisher, and Wolverine

pretty much why people do not like him , myself included . take a look at the links and you can see why the nerd rage .
@Renchamp: In the 80s Wolverine killed people all the time. Punisher's whole gimmick is killing people. Cable wasn't much more than your standard soldier type hero that comes standard in most post apocalyptic sci-fi until better writers took over for Liefeld and made something interesting out of the character.
@SoA: No, I agree 1000% percent - I hadn't seen half those pics. That Captain America pic is the one that I always remember.
@Vance Astro: Maybe because he draws the most unbelievable, hyper-sexualized women ever. I'll admit to being a kid and reading X-Force to ogle the ladies. Then I learned what real women look like...and I can't look at Liefeld's work without wondering if he's ever seen women with a spinal cord AND feet. I will say this for Liefeld though - he is right on about something most artists forget: NONE of his characters use a magic satchel. If it's not strapped on or sticking out or being carried or being dragged by the character, you can be damn sure it's folded up in one of the many pouches.

This isn't even old, like: I think this is last month's issue. Awful, just awful.
F*CK LIEFELD. I used to read Deathstorke until this SOB took over the book and ruined the book along with STROKE forever!

Thats not how you hold a sword! And Deathstroke's left foot!?!? God damn you, Rob Liefeld!!!! AAHHHHGGG!!!!!! I'm so glad he is leaving DC soon.
It's sad, is what it is.@KnightRise: There are literally no fingers grabbing Deathstroke's sword.
@JediXMan: Exactly! You would think that over the years, after being called out for his bogus "art", that he would make an extra effort to improve his weak spots and go over his drawings, looking for anatomical errors and stuff that just makes no sense. But then again if he did those things he just wouldn't be Rob Liefeld..........

I love how Deathstroke barely has a grip on his sword. And his left foot looks awesome.....-cough-

We can hate all we want, but he still gets a nice paycheck. So he can laugh at the criticism all the way to the bank.
Liefeld is a matter of hit/miss with the fans. You either love him or hate him, simple as that really. I personally am a big fan of him, even if others wanna tease me about it ::Glares at Mercy from afar with the famed 'thousand yard stare' before continuing:: yet I know the criticism because even I can attest to how some of his artistic depictions were a total failure (i.e. Captain America). Regardless though, whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit he still had a style that you can recognize him by, and even is responsible for some original contributions (Deadpool, Cable).
He created a couple characters that other people made into great characters. Other than that he shouldn't be working,
Here's how we find a place for Liefeld, start a comic all about Clawster from He-Man and have him deal exclusively with crab people and 4 limb amputees
I know it's all been said already, but I I feel the need to say it too. His art sucks, his writing is mediocre at best (thats being kind, cause I'm in a decent mood today), and he has messed up on a lot of good characters.
Now on the topic of him saying things about other writers is interesting too. Now I'm not fully aware of the situations or circumstances as to why things were said, but I'll try my best. Plesae feel free to add or correct me if you know more. Anyways I think the story goes that he tweeted a comment about a year and a half ago that caused some controversy about Stan Lee. I think some took it as him trying to defend Jack Kirby and saying Stan Lee didn't give Kirby enough credit (which some people do share that opinion), but others took it as straight disrespect to Stan Lee. Find it here.
He has also been critical of Alan Moore as well.

Take it for what it is, there are people who agree with what he said, then there are people who don't. I'll give the guy credit for speaking his mind, but I'm still just not a fan at all, but thats just me.
some more Lobo art
Just look at Lobo's right hand...... And to think that they printed this in an actual comic book! I expected more from you, DC, especially in the new 52! Shoulda kept the old artist and writer, those Deathstroke stories were awesome, and the art was awesome as well....
Nuff said!

lol
I'm surprised he managed to draw Lobo without any pouches.
@sesquipedalophobe: it is pretty weird... also is he eating chicken? Because that is not what a chicken leg looks like.
Are you saying that because people "hate" Rob Leifeld...he's talented? You can usually tell how talented a person is by how many haters he has & he has plenty.
Tell Liefeld Deathstroke's balls shouldn't be drawn in his mouth, too.@Billy Batson said:

Whether he has talent or not is subjective but when you have posts like "he has no talent but yet I don't understand how he still gets work" well.....

Dude, i hope that was not a serious statement. Artists like John Buscema, Jim Lee, Stuart Immonen, Jack Kirby, Philip Tan, Paulo Siqueria and many more, i believe they barely have any haters and most of them are considered by many( and they truly are ) some of the most talented artists in the comic industry. If some people are truly hated like Rob, then it's because the don't do any good job. The fact that his art has so many errors, is not an opinion but a fact. If something you can see with your own eyes ( like flaws in the anatomy, hidden feet, no background, misplaced weapons etc..) is not a fact, then i don't know what it is. Also the fact that his style barely changed and improved through so many years, makes him even worse.
Also most of you guys, might like to check that!!! :)

he just draws disproportional overly large people, not realistic and inspired the whole 90s style or image style where people were ginormously ripped
