    Rickard Stark was a Lord of Winterfell and served the Mad King Aerys II as Warden of the North. He had four children: Brandon, Eddard, Lyanna and Benjen Stark. Rickard Stark negotiated wedding betrothals for his two eldest children, Brandon to Catelyn of House Tully, and Lyanna to Robert of House Baratheon. However, weddings were shattered with Lyanna's "kidnapping" by Rhaegar Targaryen. Travelling to King's Landing, with his son Brandon, to protest the crime they found themselves imprisoned and executed.
