Richard Mall was an average man from Greenwich Village who fell in love with the lovely Regina Simms. He wanted nothing but to please her and even willingly joined a cult she led, as she had promised to marry him in exchange. Unfortunately, Richard had no idea just how devoutly Regina led her cult in the worship of the Prince of Darkness, Shaitan. When Richard began expressing his doubts in the cult and his wish for Regina to abandon it, she chastised him for his unwillingness to believe, and Richard began to understand that Regina was in too deep with her beliefs.

Walking home one night, Richard stopped in on a mysterious book shop where a friendly, old shopkeeper sold him a book on Shaitan that he thought might interest Regina. Once home, Richard began to look through the book to see if it could help him understand Regina's obsession with Shaitan. He performed a basic ritual from the book to commune with Shaitan, expecting it to be nothing but a farce. The ritual wound up disorienting him somehow however, and eventually knocked him unconscious. When he woke up, he saw that apparently the Shaitan statue Regina had given him had fallen off its stand and hit him on the head. Richard began to wonder if Regina actually had some kind of power over him after all, and so he continued to peruse the book he'd bought for answers that might help.

When he slept that night, Richard found himself plagued by nightmares of Regina telling him to come to her. The next day, Richard went to find the bookshop where he had bought his book, only to find it had never existed. Richard now felt certain that Regina was a witch of some kind and needed to be dealt with. He went to see Regina, and she once again tried to get him to accept Shaitan as his master. Richard denied her however and smashed the statue she had given him. Furious, Regina summoned forth Shaitan to destroy Richard, but Richard had come prepared and sent Shaitan back to Hell with a spell he had found hidden in his book. With her master gone, Regina's powers were gone as well, causing her to wither away and die. Richard bid her goodbye, glad that her evil was no more.
