Mind the Gap #6 - Wish You Were Here, Part 1: Sleep Furiously

5

It's the second arc of the story. Find out if we'll get closer to discovering the truth or if we'll be getting even more questions in this mystery.

The Good

This is a series choke full of mystery. Our main character, Elle, was attacked and we have no idea who the culprit was. Everyone is a suspect. As we get closer to uncovering the truth, more questions are thrown at us. It's not often we get comic book stories like this.

Even though the story is giant mystery, you can still come on board with this issue. Of course you'll want to read the first five (or the just released trade) but this is a good jumping on point. Each issue conveniently has a first page summary filling you in on what has happened and who the possible suspects are.

As Elle's body is in a coma, she's in an in between place called, The Garden. Able to take over the body of a recently deceased girl, she has to try to make things right for her as well as reach out to her best friend in order to try to get to the truth of why she was attacked.

The story continues to be a crazy trip. Some things are starting to get a little clearer but of course, there is still plenty to the story to try to figure out. I can honestly say I have no idea what Jim McCann is cooking up but I can't wait to see what happens next.

The art and color fit perfectly here. Some flashback scenes and showing Elle inhabiting another body come across in a cool way.

The Bad

Nothing bad except having to wait for the next issue to get some more clues.

The Verdict

A great mystery is always fun to read and getting a well-crafted one in a comic book format is a treat. Jim McCann has been weaving quite a web since the beginning. What started out as a simple mugging is turning into an elaborate conspiracy that leaves you scratching your head. We still don't have all the answers but that's good because you won't want the story to end just yet. Even though this series is all about the big mystery and this is the sixth issue, you can still easily jump in here but of course you'll want to see how the story started to fully appreciate all the details. If you're looking for a great mystery with great art and colors, this is the series you've been looking for.
