Spoilers below!
As a Batman fan, I couldn't help but absolutely love by the conclusion. We know The Dark Knight's a master of stealth, but he snuck into the White House and managed to get the jump on the freaking President of the country... and then vanish. Go on, tell me that's not badass.
Putting the spotlight on a wider range of characters was much appreciated. I wish some characters had more dialogue (or any at all), but given the limited amount of space Taylor's working with, I was just happy to see them there. Despite that, the writing once again feels organic and has some heart behind it. I love Flash's line to Superman before he dives into the ice. The Justice League are just like us when it comes to Superman -- they admire him and little lines like that one make it transparent. It's almost heartwarming to see a hero act like a fanboy.
The story itself is fine and ends on a note that any Bat-fan will love, but overall it wasn't as powerful as the rest of the chapters. It primarily had me excited for what's to come instead of the present.
The Good
You don't just take Superman's "parents" and think you can get away with it. Instead of focusing on how Kal-El's responding to this tactic, writer Tom Taylor shifts gears and instead presents how the Justice League responds. They don't only feel the need to help The Man of Tomorrow, they want to. He isn't just a dear friend, he's a man that has gone above and beyond to save them and billions others countless times before. He deserves their loyalty and they're happy to provide it. This not only motivates them to stand by Superman's side in this present, but also shows why these characters will firmly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Big Blue when things begin to really unravel. The Bad
Unfortunately, having more characters crowd the pages apparently took a toll on the quality of the art. There are some pages I love, but quite a few others almost feel rushed because there's a seriously lack of detail. Also, many of the poses appear too rigid and don't feel fluid despite the characters being in motion.The story itself is fine and ends on a note that any Bat-fan will love, but overall it wasn't as powerful as the rest of the chapters.
