Redacted first appeared in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty (2022) #2 Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Carmen Nunez Carnero.
Major Story Arcs
The Century Game
While investigating a hidden message he found in his shield, Captain America uncovered a conspiracy regarding an illuminati like group called The Outer Circle. Over the years, their attempts to manipulate history were followed through with five enforcers, called Starpoints. One of these starpoints was The Redacted. He was sent to hunt Captain America down before he got too close to The Outer Circle.
He failed to take him out in the forge where the shield was created, so he followed Cap back to his New York City home. He went into cloaking mode and stalked Cap, studying his prey before finally attacking. However, Cap was able to overwhelm Redacted with his goodness and convert him to be a hero. He helped Cap and Bucky take the fight to The Outer Circle, but Bucky shocked them by killing Outer Circle member, The Revolution, to take his place on the team.
Invader
In the wake of Bucky's betrayal, Redacted was one of five allies that Captain America brought together as a new team of Invaders to take on the Outer Circle. Cap needed this new team's help to continue investigating the conspiracy, with their only lead being AIM's sudden secret movements to go underground. They planned on raiding a secret lab for answers, however, there plan was interrupted by MODOC, the fifth and final Starpoint that Cap had encountered. He had taken them all hostage and deposited them with wiped memories, scattered around the country.
With their only lead being AIM's search for a lab of Arnim Zola, Cap dubbed them the Invaders and made a plan to raid their heist attempt. Cap divided up duties with Redacted and Nick Fury Jr. assigned to rescuing hostages. As they were closing in on stopping AIM's attempt, MODOC attacked them psychically again. Redacted was forced to re-live his worst memory, but his teammate, Destroyer, was able to break through the psychic barrier and free him and the other Invaders at the expense of his own life. This gave them the opportunity to take down MODOC and The Power, a member of the Outer Circle.
Unfortunately, Redacted was badly injured in the fight and needed to stay out of Cap's siege on Dimension Z.
Nomad
At the funeral of Roger Aubrey, Redacted explained to Captain America that he was ready to embrace an identity and travel the world, expanding his mind. Gleefully, Cap dubbed him Nomad, a codename he had once used himself.
Before he left, he joined Cap's assault on the Outer Circle headquarters with Sharon. He and Sharon promise to hold off the Outer Circle's robot guards and hired mercenaries, so Cap and Bucky can confront the rest of the members.
- The Love leaves voluntarily before the violence starts
- The Machine suffers a feedback loop when she tries to move her brain into a robotic sentry that Cap destroys
- The Money falls and breaks his neck, with help from Alpine.
- The Power is delivered to Doctor Doom for his past transgressions against Latveria.
With the Outer Circle gone, Cap and his allies finally feel in control of their own destinies.
Powers and Abilities
Armor: Whether Redacted is a robot or armor is yet to be revealed, but he has a oil slick coloring.
