duo_forbidden's Red Robin #13 - The Hit List, Part 1: The Domino Effect review

    Tim got a s**t list.

After saving his family and friends from Ra's al gul, and providing (some kind of) evidence that Bruce is alive, Tim can say that he can really focus on Gotham City. Despite being back in Gotham, Tim still got some things to work out.

    Pros:
I think I would say that this issue is the first issue to begin Tim's new role as Red Robin. Sure, he's been Red Robin for quite some time, but we haven't gotten the feel for it in Gotham City. Not in a real sense (mostly because of Ra). He's trying to reestablish himself in Gotham as Red Robin instead of Robin and trying to reestablish his civilian life Tim Wayne. He's still getting used to Dick and Damian being the new Batman and Robin. Like Dick put it in a couple of issues ago, Tim is on par with him. What I always liked about Tim is besides trying to think 5 or 10 steps ahead like Bruce, he somehow manages to figure out things along the way without overdoing it most of the time. I think Fabian Nicieza does this well in his writing for balancing out every event in this issue.

Another thing I liked about Robin and Red Robin is Tim's monologues he have with himself. This issue works well with them because he's trying to work everything out with both his vigilante life and civilian life. Plus a lot of the humor works here.

The artwork is well done. since the beginning of the series, the artwork has been improving. I do like the updated Red Robin suit.

    Cons:
I don't really have any real complaints about this issue other than it left me wanting more with a lot of things.

Overall, like I said before, this issue made me wanting more. This issue can be for new readers who probably didn't like the idea of the first couple of issues with Tim away from Gotham City. I like the story concept so far with Tim making a kind of hit list with the villains in Gotham city. He's been gone away from Gotham for quite some time and it should be interesting what the next issue will bring.
