A fight for a concious mind
What we liked about it:
In this issue of Red Lanterns we see multiple struggles, mostly concerning loyalty. It’s an issue everyone faces. Though throwing your minions into a sea of red probably isn’t the way we normal people go about it. Atrocitus is trying to learn about them what the other red lanterns had been discussing. Unfortunately speaking to them isn’t all that helpful and in the last issue we see he doesn’t really trust Bleez. We get parts of the stories behind the one who get tossed into the Blood Ocean to develop conscious minds. And Atrocitus goes out into the universe to wreck vengeance…but when he comes back things are not as he left them!!
What we cannot like about it:
It’s pretty great, my only issue is the brothers we see fighting. We always see some alluding to them either both becoming red lanterns or one of them becoming a lantern but its interrupting the flow of the story for me. Aside from that this is another great issue.
With their powers combined:
Ed Benes is doing a great job on this book, his artwork is magnificent, really it is. He’s good at getting emotional responses on the faces of the aliens in this book. Peter Milligan is doing a great job with the story thus far and the ending to this issue #4 is awesome. I love seeing the pasts of these Red Lanterns too. They are good little stories that show who they are. Its awesome. That’s my word for this book too: AWESOME.
Side note:
While we can all experience anger/rage do we all show it the same? I’d like to see Milligan write a Lantern that has a backward way of showing emotions while still feeling the same. It’d be a challenge no doubt but itd be cool to see from my perspective.
