Red Hood and the Outlaws #2

Red Hood and the Outlaws travel to the Himalayas to find the assassins behind the murder of Ducra.  

I was excited for this second issue after finishing the surprisingly enjoyable first issue by Scott Lobdell. While I once again enjoyed this issue, some may not be satisfied since most of this issue takes place prior to the cliffhanger of the previous issue. This issue delves a little deeper into Jason's past while showing the events that led up to cliffhanger last issue.

The issue opened up by giving readers a nice look into Jason's past. We see a flashback of Talia Al Ghul bringing Jason to Ducra for training. So far one of my favorite things about this series is that it's been exploring Jason's past. Lobdell is doing great so far with his character. Some people can write him while others stumble. It seems like Lobdell is attempting to take his character in new directions which I can't wait to see. Next issue promises to explore the Chamber Of All which sounds enticing. 

We get a little mid-air banter between characters on their way to the Himalayas as Jason flirts with a flight attendant. Some may not like this part but it added a little humor to the story that was sort of refreshing. Starfire looked pretty cool in some actual clothes I might add. I know her new costume has been criticized (understandably) but I don't think anyone would object to the way she looked in human clothes. 

Once again Kenneth Rocafort does a outstanding job on the artwork. He's quickly becoming a favorite artist of mine. I love the energy he's bringing to this series. Colorist Blond is doing great work as well. Together they're making quite an exceptional art team. Rocafort had some unique panels designs. I especially enjoyed the double-paged spread towards the end of the issue. He does such a great job capturing the awesomeness these characters emanate. 

This was another solid issue of what I think is one of the underrated series out of the new 52. It's not going to please everyone. I'd recommend giving it a try and seeing for yourself. It's a seres that's received such mixed reviews that you really just have to pick it up a try it out for yourself. I did and I've enjoyed it so far.
