    Origin

    The Red Guardian is Russia's answer to Captain America. Several men have held the mantel of Red Guardian before Anton. He claimed that before becoming the Red Guardian, he was a Crimson Dynamo pilot.

    This was revealed to be untrue as Anton is actually a life model decoy and was decapitated after being captured by the Dire Wraiths. His still active head was kept in storage. Like all Red Guardians he was given a shield made of Vibranium and circuitry in the suit and within the shield allows it to return to Anton.
