In a distant solar system, a lone boy named Kyle Harmon is about to begin an adventure unlike any other. The only child on the mineral rich planet Kirawan, Kyle lives a safe but lonely life among the adult settlers of a colony sealed in a dome that protects them from the dangers that threaten them outside it. For companionship Kyle's uncle builds a cyber canine for the boy, that Kyle christens "Red." When Red goes missing in the savage alien landscape, Kyle goes in search of his only friend and encounters a world unlike any other. Facing creatures beyond imagination, Kyle will stop at nothing to get Red back. And he may just have to change the fate of all humankind to do it.
