    Review: R.E.B.E.L.S. #15

Starfire runs into the R.E.B.E.L.'s circle just as Despero's public execution of Starro is about to commence.

    THE GOOD
This issue has a great cliffhanger relating Starfire's search for her homeworld of Tamaran that was genuinely intriguing. Bedard worked some satirical/political elements into this plot line that were evocative without being heavy-handed - - specifically the public opinion brownie points Despero gets for killing Starro like a show, while Vril Dox gets their ire for doing the right thing. This reminded me of a good BBC sci-fi show in the sense that I could enjoy it just for the relationships and political plots, if necessarily not for the concepts.

    THE BAD
St. Aubin's art is a little inconsistent. It's good for the most part, especially on splash pages he clearly had more time to concentrate on, but there are some panels that seemed a little rushed - - the character rendering was a bit flat and under-detailed.

    THE VERDICT
The thing about reviewing comics like this is that DC's editorial has maintained a level of quality that it's hard to really criticize something unless it's lacking significantly. Does this issue of R.E.B.E.L.S. necessarily do anything that makes it stand out from the pack on your shelves? No, but it's a solid read.

This book remains one of my current favorites, and one of the only books I buy on a regular basis and as soon as I can on the Wednesday it comes out (I've been known to leave work for a half hour to make a run to the comic store for it). This book is no exception, though not much happens.  Dox and the rest of "R.E.B.E.L.S." (which a narration box informs us is the "industry term" for the inner core of L.E.G.I.O.N.) are recovering from the Starro war, for which Despero seems to be getting all the...
