A Murder Mystery in Future Japan

Now this is a book that I'm was looking forward to this year out of Valiant, well other then Dr.Mirage but that review is for a different time.

When I pick up this Issue number one of Rai I didn't what to expect to be honest I know very little about Rai but that didn't stop me from enjoy this issue. The story itself was pretty good for a first issue but there were a few things that were in mind were left out that could of been explain that weren't but I hope that it will be in the next one.The story is based on a murder that happen in Japan or Japan in 4001 .

The main story is about the first murder that happen in Japan in thousand years and the main character of the series Rai comes in a try to figure it out.The whole thing reminds of things like Blade Runner, Ghost in a Shell and Deus Ex:Human Revolution in a way.The character of Rai during his investigation meets people that tell him that Father is lying to about a lot of things which raising more question about the whole thing.

The characters of this issue were interesting to me from Rai to Lula .Lula is a small girl who tell us what is going on in Japan.Rai is very flat character but he is very mysterious person who could be human or could be something else. Then we have people like Father and Spylocke there is a page in the back were it talks about the things that Spylocke has been a part of mostly these are movies trailers in a way.

The team behind this deserve praise for what they did here with the writing to the art. Matt Kindt does a good job in setting the story and in character work with people like Lula. .The art of Clayton Crain is amazing here his art matches the setting of this world really well.

The overall I would recommend picking this up.The writing and the art is really good and the story is very mysterious with more questions being raised and very little answers and in some places it can be confusing. The whole thing reminds of things like Blade Runner, Ghost in a Shell and Deus Ex:Human Revolution in a way but overall pick this up you might like it.
