In order to exterminate the elusive Jedi, Darth Vader sent Galen Marek, his secret apprentice to hunt him down. Marek was eventually able to find the aged Jedi and engaged him in intense lightsaber combat. During the battle, Kota claimed to be able to see the young Secret Apprentice's future and claimed that his future would not always be by Vader's side. This infuriated Marek who was able to badly injure Kota and send him falling hundreds of miles to his doom to the surface of Nar Shadda. However, Kota somehow survived the fall and, although blind, was later able to meet Marek again and form a close bond which would lead the Secret Apprentice to reject the Dark Side and embrace his bloodline.
