    CHAPTER 5

Moira slams the giant against the wall and starts to crush the life out of him using the powers of the magical amethyst to interrogate the creature. Grave Mungo arrives carrying all of the groups weapons with the exception of the magical gemstones. Dropping the bundles, Grave hurls his axe into the skull of the giant that Moira has pinned against the wall. After a more formal introduction between Grave and Andacanavar, the trio heads towards the chambers of the now over ceremony. The giants are crouched in awe before their god brought to life.

Byggvir and Greene continue their battle against the trio of giants. The battle is not going well for the two with Byggvir taking the worst of the punishment. The giant's focus on Byggvir allows Abbot Greene to grab the hidden soul stone from his boot. The soul stone not only has the power of healing but also allows the user to enter the spirit world and travel great distances quickly, or in this case take control of someone's body. The abbot invades the mind of a giant and takes over in a matter of seconds with little or no resistance from the beast. In control of the giant, he catches the other two off guard and disposes of them easily.

Andacanavar, Moira, and Grave discover the giants chamber and a host of the creatures waiting on them. They jump into battle but it is soon interrupted by the demon god Managarm. Byggvir, Managarms first target, enters the room with Abbot Greene. Byggvir is distraught by the sight of his daughter as a demon, while the abbot attempts another attack with the soul stone. Failing to control the demon the abbot does learn from the encounter that Elene is still alive and that the union is not complete. Managarm was brought into the world by an extreme act of darkness, and only an extreme act of forgiveness could counteract the revival. As Andacanavar, Grave, and Byggvir battle Managarm, Moira and Green leave to search for the gemstones to end the battle. Moira is instead tricked by Abbot Greene, who pushes her from the ledge that Elene was sacrificed on, and told that only her forgiveness of him could save everyone. Managarm is banished back to his realm and Elene is recovered alive. The fortress begins to fall apart and the companions head for the exit. All with the exception of Byggvir who has unfinished business with the giant king, Lord Thael. They battle to the death as the fortress collapses around them. The remaining giants dissipate, and the rift between the Abellican Church and the Alpinadorians becomes a little smaller, even if not by holy means. Elene never returns to her fathers village, but instead takes to the road with a rich powrie named Grave and his bag of magic stones.
