    Origin

Sylvia Corpo, the daughter of a construction magnate, "rescued" several stone gargoyles from a building that her father demolished. In the new building erected in its place, Sylvia was somehow able to "create" the nonexistent 13th floor (as the superstitious owner had skipped 13 in the numbering, going directly from 12 to 14), and used this other-dimensional "missing level" as a home for the statues, which she was able to bring to life.

    Creation

Queen of the Gargoyles was created by Bill Everett and made her first and only appearance in Venus issue 16 (1951)

    Against Venus

The siren Venus discovered the 13th floor, where the gargoyles had wreaked havoc and killed several people in the supposedly nonexistent offices of the defunct Corpo Construction Company. Investigating further, Venus encountered Sylvia Corpo, who introduced herself as "Queen of the Gargoyles" and revealed that she had the power to bring the statues to life and to create this "home" for them. When Sylvia attempted to kill Venus, her resentful creations took advantage of her distraction and attacked her. Fleeing from her attackers, the panicked Sylvia ran through an open elevator door and plummeted to her death down the shaft, with the gargoyles following her to destruction.
