Starting to Come Together
I love the Punisher. I honestly think Greg Rucka's run on this book has become the definitive run. Instead of continuing on and closing it out, we get an epilogue of the series in mini-series form. It features Frank Castle vs The Avengers...but not really.
That's how it's marketed, and it is marketed wrong. It's really not a dumb action book.
Issue one was set up, issue two we had Frank vs Black Widow, and it wasn't a fight. This put some off, but you will see why that happened.
The Punisher actually tries to do good, but he does it in ways that aren't good. In this series he tricking the Avengers into doing his work for him. Thor is hunting him down and Frank surprises him by shooting him with a rocket. Of course this won't hurt Thor. Frank then runs off to an enemy camp, and when Thor shows up, well....
The nifty thing, Spider-Man is actually coming off as the villain. It is the Peter Parker Spider-Man. He wanted Black Widow to bring in the Punisher, BUT she ends up saving over 117 people thanks to the actions of the Punisher. The same with Thor. However Spider-Man is starting to get a little obsessed. Going to be interesting to see where it goes for the next two issues.
We also get an update on Punisher's former side kick.
This is great, this would be a great continuation of the regular Punisher series. It's a shame the initial sales weren't there for this, but what can you do. We are getting a lot of good Punisher books in January, and hopefully we can get another main book.
But I love this book, I love Rucka's run with the character, and I high recommend this series.
