No Stray Bullets when Lapham is being Frank
These Punisher One-Shots are hit or miss with me. I really enjoyed this one. David Lapham is the award winning writer of Stray Bullets and no one can write Frank Castle like he can. Lapham is just nuts. For those who don't know his work from Stray Bullets, this story is the closest to it that I have read in a long time. Non-linear storytelling but still focused and brilliant is the only way for me to describe Lapham at his best. Like Garth Ennis, Lapham can be over the top, so if that is your thing, Lapham may win you over.
This one-shot is set in the Punisher Max world, but Frank is not the main Character. Frank becomes the "Personal Jesus" to a main character named Bobby Boorstein. Bobby may be more "gray" when it comes too right and wrong. When Frank is always black and white. The ending makes you question if Frank is just a Violent Vigilante or just the extreme measure to a extreme situation.
Great fun read, that can be taken as is or looked deeper into. This is David Lapham at his best and Frank Castle the way I like him.
Cheers.
