The fight against the “Dark Reign” begins as the duty of chronicling Frank Castle’s war journal is passed to new regular team of writer Rick Remender (End League, Fear Agent) and Jerome Opeña (Wolverine, Fear Agent).

One man with one bullet, in the right place, at the right time, can change the world. That’s why the Punisher is perched atop a building on the Jersey shore with a high-powered Skrull rifle, his crosshairs trained on a target in Midtown Manhattan. But who is his target -- and why? One thing’s for sure: They’re anything but helpless. Someone is watching their back. Someone big. Enter: The Sentry!

Frank notes that the heroes don't know how to go to war. He knows you have to get your hands dirty sometimes. As Norman Osborn is talking to a crowd of people, delivering a speech, the Punisher is four miles away with a Skrull sniper rifle. He pulls the trigger but the bullet is caught at the last second by the Sentry. Frank had prepared for eight different kinds of trouble except for that. Sentry is on him in a second. He tells Frank they can do it the easy way or hard way. Frank bolts.

Frank knows Sentry could have ended things right away so he must be holding back. He tries slowing him down to get away. Finally when it appears to be over, Frank holds up a remote. He tells Sentry that there's a bomb in the basement of a hospital and he has five seconds to get it. Having no choice, Sentry flies after it only to find it was a bluff. Returning, he finds Frank is gone.

Frank makes it to his van. Injured, he receives a message from someone claiming to be his new best friend. He tells Frank that Sentry will be on him in moments and he needs to leave. He gets instructions in which way to go. Staggering, he eventually reaches his final destination and collapses at the feet of the unknown man.

Well, that took 3 minutes 0

That's right, I literally read through this in 3 minutes, and you know what? I didn't mind. I really enjoyed the art on this book. Opena's work is easy on the eyes and quick to go through. You get just enough detail about what's going on in the panel and then your eyes glaze over to the next one, simple stuff, a lot of fun. The writing? well, there isn't too much of that. Sure, Remender set up the panel structure with the writing, but there wasn't much to actually "read". I'm incredibly interest...

A solid start for a new Punisher series (spoilers) 0

This first issue of the Punisher's Dark Reign series, sees Frank Castle attempting to assassinate Norman Osborn with a Skrull sniper rifle, only to have his bullet plucked from the air by the Sentry just before it hits its mark. In a desparate scramble to evade capture, Frank plays a destructive game of cat and mouse with Sentry. After being badly injured, Castle is about to be apprehended by his pursuer, but the ever-prepared Punisher, holding a detonator, bluffs the Sentry with the threat of a...
