What do you guys think about her famous swimsuit? I personally believe that it was great in the 90's, but now it seems very dated and not in tune with her current character. I really hoped that Remender would have changed it to a stealth/battle suit (keeping in tone with the X-Force outfits), but that has yet to happen. In my opinion, if he wants her to be taken seriously as a character by non-Psylocke fans, please take her out of the thong.
Also, what with her being a close combat fighter, you'd think she'd tie her hair up? Someone has had to have given it a tug at some point.
Betsy Braddock
Character » Betsy Braddock appears in 4601 issues.
British beauty Elizabeth Braddock is older twin sister of Captain Britain a mutant, former fashion model, and Charter Pilot. She is a long-standing member of the X-Men, Leader of Excalibur, and Founder of the reformed Captain Britain Corps, multi-versal alternate versions of herself.
Psylocke's costume - time for a change?
Agreed, she's been in that costume for way too long. The hair would make more sense in an ponytail but i can let it slide due to the comic world likes to do impractical things choice wise. I'd like too see a stealth suit of some kind
No. She's a comic book character and she has boobs...she's supposed to be scantily clad even if it doesn't make sense.
got that right, if it ain't broke, and believe me, it ain't, then don't fix it@The Stegman: There is something to be said for consistency, huh? ;)
@The Stegman: I like her the way she is too, but it would be nice to see a different costume. Everyone else has several.
They've changed her costume before and it just never really took. Remember the head-band with the scarf look? Then they tried something new when she was with the Exiles, but it was generic and lame. The "swimsuit" with leg and arm wraps is iconic and that's totally in right now. ;)
@Larkin1388: In that case, something along the lines of Ultimate Pyro with an overcoat. And robot hands.
why did they change her out of her exile's costume? i thought i was good and should have carried over...stupid artist
I don't think there's anything particularly dated about Psylocke's suit. It's not overly flashy in terms of colors, and doesn't have any needless/superfluous attachments.
I'm usually one for not over-objectifying female comic characters, but Psylocke is one that's never bothered me. She's a ninja/martial artist/acrobat type character, and thus wears an outfit that reflects those skills without being too revealing. Hell, the bottom portion of it is the only thing that's really all that revealing, and that usually depends on the artist drawing her whether she's covered up back there or not.

I like Psylocke's current costume. I like the colours, stripe motifs on her arms and legs, and the general design of it. It reflects who she is as a character, and makes her distinguishable from other characters. I also agree that the thong bottom is the only silly thing about the costume, but only when it exposes so much of her behind that it's just looks ridiculous. It looks fine and tastefully sexy when it's crawn like its cut low enough. Generally speaking, the costume lands safely on the sexy side of the sexy/silly dictonomy I usually apply to the costume designs of female comic characters.
but then agen i like the one one the old side of uncanny x men 509 cause i thought the art made it look good
In issues #14 & 15 of UXF Psylocke wears a costume that seems to be a modified version of her swimsuit. I personally like it a lot. Having her bands connected is far more practical and gives her more coverage as well and the overall aesthetic is still the same as her usual get-up.
@ragdollpurps: Remender confirmed on Twitter that that is Psylocke's new costume! Jerome Opeña also said he was asked to design something similar to Betsy’s classic uniform. He said that he still might tweak it a bit in upcoming issues, but it will stay pretty close to how it was seen in issues #14 and #15.
I really like it!
I really like the new costume! It stays true to her classic look, yet it's been modified to cover her just enough to give her credibility. It looks like it's made for kicking ass instead of exposing ass.
Realistically, are guys attracted to girls who wear painful looking swimsuits all the time? Seriously, that thing has got to be smelly after wearing it for 20 years, it's disappointing that a former fashion model is STILL wearing that thing. The purple theme I can live with, but at least give the beautiful young woman something she can be proud to be seen in.
Looks like she gets a new costume in Uncanny X-Force permanently now. Its similar to her old one, but finally updated!

So much purple, she looks like a loon. I don't love it nor hate it.
It's not really purple, it's black. Just the colorist trying to indicate the sheen of the material by reflecting the pink light of the room.
ironically we had a Psylocke costume contest for artists running for 4 days before this discussion got started and no one managed to ever link it up here.
You cats are slackin.
There was some most excellent ideas thrown in there. :)
@tonis: Hehe I thought about it, but as soon as I remembered it was over and done with. Really great designs overall though, I agree. :]
