i liked the movie a lot. they did a great job balancing a great movie with knowing they needed to break away from the previous films. it was definitely not "another spider-man film." it was super heavily tied into the other marvel movies.

sure, they swapped some characters or changed some mythos, but i think they had to to make it stand out from the other films.

also i am THOROUGHLY confused why ganke is not ganke. like really. the only thing that similar to ned leeds about that character was his name. literally everything else was ganke. so why not just call it what it is?

my parents made the incredible (and absolutely unintentional) decision to buy me AMS essential collection vol 1 and 2 when i was about 7 or 8 years old. they were absolutely perfect for me at that age and hooked me on spidey. plus it was cool to actually know the source material well even from a young age. i loved taking those books every where and have fond memories reading them at camp, in the car, at night in my room, etc/

I'm calling it, Miles will end up killing Hydra Cap just like in Ulysses' vision (since they were supposed to be 90% accurate or something) and then this other Steve Rogers takes over being Captain America without the baggage of Hydra Cap or Marvel continuity. If that happens, I'll be pi$$ed off.

at least the bad guy would get killed. i thought spidey would kill norman osborn at the end of siege for sure, but they still locked him up some where after all the crap hes done

i think so. and to be honest, i actually really love dan slott. I think his light, humor-based approach and always trying to find a new angle has worked well for ASM.

but it's been a long time. he's been the main writer, since 2009? 2010? that's too long. and oddly long for Marvel, who seems to be a rotating door everywhere else in their publishing.

in any case, just for the sake of changing it up to get a refreshing new outlook on peter i'd like a different writer. someone with a little bit more of a serious tone like gauntlet or kravens last hunt would be really fun right about now.

TWD is on the same level

why is no one else saying this? so obvious.

also, flash & arrow are no where near as good as breaking bad. not even on a subjective level, just in terms of production quality and acting, directing, etc. it's no contest.

Does anyone here read Invincible and is reading Secret Empire? I've noticed a lot of similarities between [SPOILERS] how Robot took over the world and is ruling with an iron fist but has lowered crime and super villain activity and Cap's recent plan. Basically the same storyline, right?

I'm not saying people can use similar themes, I just think it's interesting that Kirkman was working the same idea years before this Marvel event.

---

Also, side note, I'm really over how every recent Marvel event is a writer reshaping the MU to some different status quo only to have it taken back to normal after the series is over. And regardless of what they say, we all know Hydra isn't going to be ruling the world for very long or it's going to get reality-warped back like it never happened. What happened to stories like Civil War and Dark Reign where the story actually affected anything else long term and wasn't just one more "re-imagining" or the MU?

Just bought a house, and I'll be about 35 minutes from my local comic shop now. Not really worth the drive every week, and not sure if I'll have the time anyways.

Anyone tried some services like DCBS? How did it go? I've heard good things and I've heard bad things, like bent comics or ripped pages.
