Zelos gives new meaning to the phrase "real men wear pink".
Zelos has what is called a Cruxis Crystal(there are two types of expheres, Cruxis Crystals are the more poerful one). It's a small, red sphere on a gold mount, called a Key Creast. This crystal greatly increases his powers, abilities and also gives him super strength, invulnerability, and bright yellow wings. Because of this Zelos and others with Cruxis Crystals are called angels.
Personality
A lot people see as Zelos as a walking libido. He flirts shamelessly with every women in sight. He claims that he only wants to have a good time, wink, wink, and is constantly joking around, rarely taking a situation seriously. Zelos is very narcissistic, He is vain about his appearance, and won't hesitate to let you know ;D
He acts this way because he wants to live the "easy life" even when he knows he never will because his life as the "Chosen" won't allow for it. At a young age Zelos lacked a sense of identity, he came up with his carefree attitude to battle this. Time moved on but his personality didn't, probably for the best. Zelos is very inteligentand can be serious when the occasion calls for it, and he always has his friends best interests in mind.
History
Zelos was born into the lineage of the current Chosen of Mana in a world known as Tethe'alla( Mithos,a half-elf angel, cut the world in two, one world being Tethe'alla the other Slyverant). From a very young age, he was forced to endure hardships, and was fairly secluded from the rest of the world. The reason for this was to ensure his safety as the future Chosen One.
When Zelos was a child, his father's mistress, a half-elf, gave birth to a child named Seles, Zelos' half-sister. It is likely that Zelos and Seles were close friends as children. After the death of Zelos' father, the half-elven mistress attempted to kill the young Zelos. She knew that, if Zelos died, Seles (as the last relative of the half-siblings' father) would become the Chosen of Mana, resulting in a greater quality of life. It was a snowy day when she put her plans into effect, supposedly the first day Zelos saw snow. As Mylene and Zelos built a snowman, the half-elf unleashed a barrage of magic. Mylene was accidentally caught in the crossfire, the snow ran red with her blood. Her last words to Zelos were, "You should never have been born."
After Mylene's death, Seles' mother was executed (half-elves are at the bottom of the caste system in Tethe'alla and feared in Sylvarant, it is unlikely she was given a fair trial). Seles herself was imprisoned in an Abbey for life.
Zelos always felt guilty for the death of his mother, and blamed her death on his title as Chosen, a title he began to loathe. He grew up under the impression that he was worthless, a pathetic Chosen who could never save the world. Zelos lived in the knowledge that, had he died that snowy day in Meltokio, Seles would be greatest Chosen that Tethe'alla had seen in decades. Both this and the knowledge that he could not live up to the expectations set upon him as Chosen further deepened Zelos's self-loathing. Growing up in Meltokio's uncaring society, Zelos was forced to lock his emotions away and adopt a mask of confidence, self-assurance, self-esteem, and superficiality. This "mask" allowed him to differentiate between those who merely had a passing interest in him and those who truly wished to know and befriend him. It also allowed him to defend himself from further emotional trauma.
Journey To The Final Battle
On a beautiful day in Meltokio Zelos meets a group of travelers from the other world of Sylvarant. Their group included Lloyd, Genis, Raine, and Colette who is Sylvarant's chosen. While in Meltokio this group, now including Presea, broke into the kings castle to inlist his help in saving both worlds. The king and Pope make Zelos a part of their group to watch their evry move.
Through their travels they came across many people some of whom joining them on their journey, like Regal and Sheena rejoined the group to once again become Zelos' number one hunny. For the first time in his life, Zelos saw what it was to have true friends. Because of this, Zelos and Kratos came up with an elaborate scheme to help their friends (more so Lloyd, Kratos' son) defeat their greatest enemy, Mithos Yggdrasill.
Upon reaching the Tower of Salvation, Zelos leads Colette forward, claiming that he wants her help in taking the Eternal Sword (needed to reunite the worlds and resurrect the Great Kharlan Tree), but angels surround the two, and Pronyma reveals Zelos' betrayal, before leaving with him. While Lloyd's party makes their way to the Hall of the Great Seed, each and every single one of them falls, one-by-one, into various traps in an effort to allow Lloyd to challenge Mithos and save Colette and the world. Unbeknownst to Lloyd, Zelos releases them, and guides them to the Hall, where they reunite with Lloyd and help defeat Pronyma. Zelos then rejoins the party and helps to defeat Yggdrasill. After his Defeat, Yggdrasill then goes to Derris-Kharlan to leave the worlds in search of a place where he could resurrect his sister, Martel, in peace. (Lloyd needed the large amount of mana that Derris-Kharlan lets off to help resurrect the the Great Kharlan Tree)
The main objective of the plan was to obtain Aionis, a metal that would allow a human, Lloyd, to use the Eternal Sword. Kratos then finishes his plan to make the Eternal Ring with Dirk.
Lloyd and company then travels to Derris-Kharlan for the final battle with Yggdrasill. After this battle Martel manifested herself in Tabatha. After Lloyd resurrected the great tree, (it was a sprout that had to grow) she explained to him how to keep it from withering again.
Afterwards everyone went back to their lives, protecting all those in need.
