Frieza survived the planet blowing up while half cut and drained of stamina, and he doesn't need to breathe.

Goku would survive planet explosions but only die from not being able to breathe.

Also king kai's planet is as big as a normal sized house but it has 10x gravity of earth. Size =/= gravity. Namek is definitely bigger than earth; it had three suns as well.
