I only got into comics about 2 1/2 years ago. I started with the bat titles during the whole Return of Bruce Wayne thing and let me tell you that was WAY confusing for a brand new reader but I HAD to know what was going on. It was easy to fall in love with the characters, I wanted to know what would happen to them and how they got where they were. So I searched out answers.

Just about the time I had a good grasp on things, they announced the New 52. I went into it with an open mind. Some things were a pleasant surprise (Aquaman) and some were a disappointment (Mr. Terrific). But for me, the overarching problem is I just don't love these characters like the old ones. Every victory is less sweet, every trial is a little less nerve-racking, and every failure is a little less heart wrenching than they used to be. I don't KNOW these characters and there's no way to get to know them. Every time I think I make a little progress, the big shots at DC pull the rug out from under me. It's just frustrating. If you want to change something later, that's what alternate realities are for.

Just reboot the whole thing. And next time, put out a list at the beginning "These story arcs happened" and a timeline. And stick to it!

Is it too much to ask for ONE hero with a functional relationship? I mean let's face it, if you think about all the major DC characters, who had the most stable home life? Flash, doesn't matter which Flash, it's always Flash. I mean wasn't that one of the main things keeping them from being stuck in the Speed Force, weren't their wives their 'lightning rods'? I feel like Flash keeps getting short changed like they're in a meeting and they're talking about dissolving Lois and Clark's marriage and everyone is leaving and some shouts out "Hey, what about the Flash?" And they use go  "Yeah, do the same thing to him too." I mean I'm all for changing it up to tell great interesting stories but if they make the same changes to EVERYONE, doesn't it stop being different? All that being said, I'm still going to buy it, I like the Flash to much to not at least give it a chance.

@coolbeans: I totally agree. One of the first things that ran through my head when they announced this was "What about Robin? And all the other legacy characters?" I mean not ALL of them are great but I'm quite fond of some of them, like Robin. I hated Damian when he was introduced but he's really grown on me, he's such a great character. And Tim is one of my favorite characters, Red Robin is a great book. I honestly think Dick will be safe though, at least from getting deleted or totally ruined.

I only got into comics a little over a year ago and yeah seeing numbers like 900 and 800 on them can be a little intimidating but what's worse is it's so hard to figure out which events actually happened in the continuity you're reading. If they're going to reboot it then COMPLETELY reboot it. None of this this 'oh this, this, and this never happened now' and then 12 issues later being like 'oops my bad that second one, yeah that still happened' or 'actually that third one happened except without this part'.  I'm not saying everything needs to change. In fact I'd be kind of upset if somethings did change, I mean you can't make Batman all sunshine and rainbows, just stick with the changes. You can change the origins or setting or costume whatever, just keep the essence of the character, especially of the major players.

It's on it's off it's on it's off. Would you people make up your mind? And how bad must the pilot have been if they passed on it, look what makes it on to tv. Of course using that reasoning it also could have been pretty good. LOL. I give up.

I'm with you Babs I'm suffering through Wonder Woman right now hoping in the end my patience will pay off and something awesome will happen.  I've considered dropping the title several time but I just can't bring myself to do it.  This also happens with art. I LOVE all things Batman but I can't stand Irving but I couldn't drop Batman and Robin because nothing else would have made sense without it.  But my patience was rewarded in the end. :)

This could be a disaster. I have horrible images of like Batman meets One Tree Hill. Batman has issues and so do most of the characters in the bat universe but not that kind of issues.  Not that I'm not for a good Batman show, I LOVE Batman it's my favorite but Batman is a lot different than it was when they did the last Batman live action tv show. @blaakmawf said:

" Only if it is like the Conroy - Hamil animated series. "
I totally agree. That worked. If they can pull that off live action I'm super excited. Otherwise I'm cautiously curious.
   @Nobody said:
" Maybe we'll see a Robin in the TV series. "
I hope we  get to see a lot of the supporting cast that's missing from the movies, but especially  Robin. Which Robin would you like to see?

@nutzac4888:  I totally agree. There's a scene in Batman and Robin 14 that totally shows this. . It starts out with Robin beating Joker with a crowbar and ends with Joker escaping with Robin as his prisoner.

He's not insane he's just not restrained by any of the normal codes of behaviors and because of that he follows a logic most of us can't even fathom. He's evil, totally sadistic, and brilliant.  The reason he got so upset about Bruce being gone was because he's the only one who can keep up with him; they're on the same level only at opposite ends of the moral compass.

(As a side note I've always thought it was interesting that the Joker is the bad guy and he's all white and brightly colored and Batman is the good guy and is all dark and shadowy. Completely opposite of the norm. I always thought it was an interesting commentary on Gotham.)
