While this topic is a bit contentious, I’ll attempt to explain an argument for Cull Obsidian being out of Spider-Man’s league.
But first, allow me to begin by simply saying I think it’s somewhat reasonable to view Peter as superior to Cull; at least, judging simply by IW/EG showings. The scaling seems clear enough, so how do I oppose it?
1) The strength of MCU high tiers.
If you don’t think characters such as Hulk, Thor, Carol, or Thanos are 100k tonners or far better, then Peter being above Cull may be feasible for you. In that case, idk if I’ll convince you otherwise right now. However, if your opinion is that Hulk and characters like him can consistently throw boulders so hard they burn up, shouldn’t that be out of Spider-Man’s wheel house?
2) Spider-Man’s lesser showings.
Why isn’t Peter replicating that? Perhaps he is, but if that’s the case, we’re talking about Doc Ock and Green Goblin also doing this, no? And instances like being hurt so badly by a train, or struggling to hold up a bell tower become anti feats.
3) Cull Obsidian’s scaling to said high tiers.
While Cull also suffers from some lower end showings, he has far less feats to begin with. He scales to the Hulkbuster armor and the MK50, not to mention he’s tanked a charged Mjolnir throw from Steve.
Simply put, I ignore the Spider-Man vs Cull instances which would make Peter look superior, in favor of the HB, MK50, and Mjolnir showings; Spider-Man scaling to those characters/feat doesn’t work as well.
