My version of the Agents of Change

Dark Horse had a really cool concept a few years back during their whole Comics' Greatest World. This is my version of the Agents of Change that will be playing a part in my forthcoming JLAvengers fan-fic. Years before the coming of Superman and the current age of superheroes that the JLA reside in, there was for a short-time a group of mystery-men that came together. Soon after their formation they were in a California city of Brinkhaven battling a threat known only as NME. They soon found out one of their own members was the true threat, but it was too late. The heroes and the city were completely destroyed....or were they? Flash forward to the present and a vortex opens up on the site where Brinkhaven once resided. Shortly afterward what is left of the city, and one of the Mighty Defenders, the hero known as the Ray appear at same site. The world finds out that the blast that was thought to have destroyed everything actually sent the city through a dimensional vortex, and a mysterious being known as the War Dancer used his vast powers to return the city and it's one lone surviving hero back to our dimension. After a time of adjustment, new heroes appear to help the Ray defend the city, and that's when the Agents of Change are formed, the city renames itself Golden City, the greatest place on Earth.

List items

  • Amazing Grace is the brains behind the changes to Golden City. Having the ability to open teleportational rifts in space, as well as great strength and flight, she becomes the first mayor after the city's name change, as well as leader of the Agents of Change.

  • A member of a powerful and mysterious race of aliens known as the Kherubim, Majestros says he has visited our world many times, and now has decided to take on the hero role to help Grace and the other agents fulfill their dreams of making Golden City the safest place on Earth.

  • Actually Rebel is the super-hero identity of 2 brothers. Either one can become Rebel, but only one at a time. The power from the mysterious dimensional rift left when Brinkhaven appeared seems to have given them amazing energy abilities.

  • The Prince of Power, son of Zeus, king of the gods. The world's very first super-hero returns to Earth and resides in Golden City. One of the most powerful of the Olympians, he uses a mystic ring that allows him to walk among the mortals again. Majestic and Hercules seemed to be close friends, as they have hinted at knowing one another for ages, and it was Majestic that brought Hercules into the team.

  • One brother dead, another alive, and somehow the forces of the dimensional rift allow them to merge to become the powerful entity known as the Haunt.

  • A violent, but noble member of the team. Sort of a mix between Batman and Wolverine.

  • Once a crooked cop, all that changed when events turned him into the monster known as Sludge. Grace seems to have a bond with Sludge.

  • A pilot dies in a fiery crash and a hero is born. Able to control air in many ways, Vortex is a powerful member of the Agents.

  • When he learns what his inventions are being used to do by the evil company he works for, he takes some of his most incredible creations and becomes Hardware.

  • The top espionage man in the world, long before the return of Brinkhaven. He is asked to join the team by Grace herself. Ninjak seems to have his own reasons for joining.

  • At first a super-villain, she reforms and joins the Agents of Change, or does she?

  • Hung during the Salem Witch Trials, she finds herself coming through the tear in space to Golden City, and now she is truly a sorceress.

  • Peter Cannon's father, and his father before him had tried to learn the secrets of opening up the other 85% of man's brain power. But it was not until Peter discovered the mind-body link that he became the "world's most perfect man." Incredibly gifted physically, mentally, when he is not inventing some incredible invention to better life in Golden City, he is protecting it as Thunderbolt, Agent of Change.

  • When Jason Troy was growing up it was in another dimension, where he met the "fly-people" as he called them, and they gave him a powerful amulet. Now, as an adult, back on Earth, he uses the amulet to become the Fly, a being who can draw on all the powers of the insect world.

  • Unknown to her, the Jaguar's female family members have been cursed, or gifted(depending on how you look at it) with the great powers of an ancient Jaguar-God.

  • The Ray was the only surviving member of the Mighty Defenders and kept on defending the city during their stay in the other dimension. The whole incident made the surviving people of the city practically worship the Ray, but also made them very untrusting of super-beings. Upon their return to our dimension, Grace used the Ray's popularity to rename the town and make herself mayor, shortly afterward the Ray was murdered. It was this situation that caused the people to allow Grace to form the Agents of Change and put into effect the extreme laws that basically sealed the town off from the rest of the country. The Agents of Change caught the man who killed the Ray, the super villain known as Boneyard. Shortly after this a young man applied to become a citizen of the city. At first he was denied until the city found out he was the Ray's son. The city demanded he be allowed to live in Golden City, and as the new Ray, become an Agent of Change, even though Grace opposed it. The new Ray is determined to find out who the real killer of his father is, as he says he has evidence that Boneyard didn't do it.

  • A mysterious member of the team, who it is said has died many times, but always returns to the living. Most of the other members don't trust him, but he is one of Grace's closest confidants on the team.

  • Able to become the behemoth being known as Hero Zero, he is one the the most powerful of the Agents of Change, and has become close friends with the son of the Ray.

  • A lot of people think she is a real ghost, but she is actually a living super being with the powers of phasing and teleportation.

  • A being who seems all-powerful. Not much is known of the being, except he is the one who opened the portal that brought the city back. The energies from the still open portal help power the city, as well as being the reason some believe to be behind some of the abilities of the Agents of Change. Some people are afraid of the portal, but the strange being either is unable to shut the portal, or just is unwilling to do so. Even though he is considered a member of the Agents of Change, he doesn't participate very often. He has been seen coming and going through the dimensional rift, and just moving about the city seemingly observing. He has also been spotted in other parts of the world. The new Ray has also discovered old pictures and even paintings of tragic events in the past, where he has spotted a form, always blurry, that appears to be the War Dancer. On the times he has taken place in battle, he seems to move about, almost in a Native American tribal dance fashion that seems to release energies that have teleported his enemies away, sent out waves of concussive energy, and even seemingly disintegrated Boneyard. He only speaks rarely and when he does, it is said to make the people who hear him feel nauseated for weeks after.

  • His parents died during the Brinkhaven incident, so he grew up hating super-beings. Shortly after the return to Earth, he gained abilities himself. At first opposing the Agents of Change, after a talk with War Dancer, he now seems to be one of the most adamant members.

  • A young man approached the dimensional rift in the center of town and was attacked by a strange alien being, while laying there dying he watched that alien battling the alien known as Ripfire. Ripfire defeated the alien and sent him back through the portal, but before he left, he gave some of his essense to the dying young man, so that he may live, then left. Shortly after, the young man realized he could become a replicant of Ripfire anytime he needed.

  • The ghost of his revolutionary ancestor visited a young man during the formation of the Agents of Change, and gave him a mystic cloak, that when donned turned him into the Fighting Yank, the most patriotic of the Agents of Change.

  • An assassin who once belonged to the League of Assassins, who was a master of bladed weapons, he was sent to Golden City to murder the mayor, Amazing Grace. He failed in his attempt and War Dancer took him and dropped him in the dimensional rift. He came back out of the portal as Warblade, a being whose body seemed to be made of a liquid/solid form of metal that could take just about any form, including that of blades. Not only that, but his mind had changed as well. He became a hero and member of Agents of Change.

  • Vampy as the other Agents call her, is a true Vampire from the beginnings of the universe, so a very powerful being. She came out of the dimension rift, and seemed to seduce War Dancer. Just as she was about to devour him, she bit into him and in a flash of brilliant light that seemed to stop even time itself, she lay unconscious at War Dancer's feet. War Dancer did a dance, and when Vampirella awoke she was devoted to War Dancer and became an Agent of Change.

  • Ages ago when the Europeans were encroaching on the lands of the native peoples of North America a great shaman(who looked a lot like War Dancer) took one of the white men and endowed him with the spirit of the trickster, the coyote, to teach the white man empathy for the the native people and their ways and to become their protector. During the current time, we see War Dancer(in flashback) take a bum in an alley and drop him in the rift in the center of town, only to emerge as a modern version of the trickster. As the Coyote, the man becomes an Agent of Change.

  • A living star comes through the rift and takes human form. Since the Agents of Change are the first humans he sees, he takes the form of a "super-hero" and calls himself E-Man(as in Energy, E=MC2). A very powerful being, he seems to love his life in Golden City, but is also still learning, which can be dangerous.

  • Son of a brilliant bio-physicist, Matt Morgan is genetically enhanced in the womb by his father while Brinkhaven was in the other dimension. Knowing the Ray couldn't protect them forever, he wanted his son to be the first in a line of super-beings. Once the other citizens of the city learned of this, they stopped Matt's father from during any further genetic tampering on other fetuses, saying it was blasphemy, so Matt was the first and last of these homo-magnus, as he father dubbed him. Matt, as a grown man, becomes the hero Silver Star and one of the first Agents of Change.

  • A good cop, who is shot and is found dying by War Dancer, without saying a word to the cop, War Dancer picks him up and takes him to Vampirella and tells her to bite him. She drains him of all his blood, but at the same time Grace has her hooked up to the cop with intravenous lines and as his blood flows through the vampire it changes as it flows back into him. The young cop heals almost immediately, the bullets being expelled from his body and his wounds healing. The young man is asked by Grace to be one of her agents and he agrees and takes the name of Scarlet Scorpion.

  • A brilliant, but very old scientist who was key to the city's survival in the other dimension isn't ready to lay down and just die. He creates several android bodies and also a way to transfer his consciousness into them upon his death. Not only that, but he has also invented a cloak of invisibility that the android body can wear. Upon his "death" he becomes the Agent of Change known as Noman. It is said by some that Grace, a brilliant scientist herself, helped Noman perfect much of his work.
