Christopher Hastings isn't a bad writer, he just doesn't seem to have a true grasp on who Deadpool really is. Hastings gives a something that can do the one thing Deadpool wants more than anything, something that can kill him, and he has Deadpool run away scared. Deadpool doesn't want to die? If a writer writes that they really shouldn't be writing for Deadpool. Dying is what Deadpool wants most and something he would do almost anything (including endangering half of New Mexico) to do it.
